Salisbury Avenue Independent Living Centre
Thinking of leaving home but frightened you may not be able to cope? Salisbury Avenue is just the place you are looking for.
Imagine: sharing a home with six other young people who, like you, all want a chance to be independent. A place where with the help and support of Centre staff, you could:
• cook your own meals
• do your own laundry
• learn to budget your own money
• be able to write your own C.V. and complete job applications
• have access to a high spec computer with Internet access
• receive computer training up to New CLAIT standard
In other words, a place where you can learn the necessary skills to achieve independence.
All of this is on offer in Salisbury Avenue Centre, situated just off the Antrim/Cavehill Road area of Belfast, making it very easy to get into the City Centre to enjoy a day’s shopping or meet friends. The buzzing nightlife in Belfast, i.e. the Odyssey, Waterfront Hall, pubs, clubs, and theatres can be easily accessed via an excellent bus and taxi service.
The usual amenities are all within easy walking distance, such as Banks, Post Office, Library, Supermarket, Shops, Chemist, Petrol Stations, Doctor’s Surgery, Dentist, Local Park.
There is also an opportunity to meet and make friends with other Centre residents when we meet once a month for social evenings such as Ten Pin Bowling, barbecues eating out, etc.
We’re a very friendly Centre and have a residents meeting once a month where you have the chance to offer your opinions and suggestions for changes within the Centre and ideas for social activities.
